Educational Trip to the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre

August 15, 2025 @ 10:00 - 15:30

Our Grade 10 and Grade 11 History learners will soon embark on a thought-provoking educational trip to the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre. This visit is directly linked to the CAPS curriculum, which covers themes of human rights, conflict, and reconciliation. The Centre provides a powerful space to learn about the Holocaust, the Rwandan Genocide, and other crimes against humanity. Learners will gain a deeper

understanding of the historical events that shaped the 20th century. Through interactive displays and survivor testimonies, they will connect history with human experiences. This trip aims to foster empathy, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the value of human dignity. It will also help learners understand the consequences of prejudice, discrimination, and intolerance. The Centre’s exhibitions offer opportunities to reflect on the importance of protecting human rights. By engaging with primary sources and historical evidence, learners will strengthen their research skills. They will also explore the relevance of past events to current global and local issues. The trip will inspire meaningful discussions about justice, responsibility, and active citizenship. It will help our learners become informed, compassionate, and socially responsible individuals. The Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre is an important educational resource for schools. We believe this experience will leave a lasting impact on our learners’ academic and personal growth. Our school is committed to providing opportunities that develop critical awareness and shape future legends.
